Install LockLedger on your phone or computer
How to put LockLedger on a home screen or desktop so it opens in its own window, the steps for iPhone and for Chrome on a computer, and what to expect once it's installed.
LockLedger can be installed like an app, with its own icon and its own window and no browser bars. There is no app store and nothing to download from one. It is the same LockLedger you already use in the browser, started from an icon. Anyone can do it for themselves, in about a minute.
The easy way: the Settings screen
Open Settings (the gear icon in the header) and find the Install the app card. It checks what you are using and shows the right thing: an Install LockLedger button where your browser allows one-tap install, or the steps for your device where it doesn't. If you are already using the installed app, it says so.
On an iPhone or iPad
- 1
Open LockLedger in Safari
Go to
lockledger.appin Safari and sign in. - 2
Tap Share
Tap the Share button, the square with an arrow pointing up.
- 3
Add to Home Screen
Scroll the list, tap
Add to Home Screen, then tapAdd. - 4
Open it from the Home Screen and sign in once
Start LockLedger from its new icon. The installed app keeps its own sign-in, separate from Safari, so you sign in once inside it.
If the icon looks dark or tinted instead of blue, that is your iPhone's Home Screen icon style (Dark or Tinted), not LockLedger. Change the icon style in your Home Screen's customize options, and the icon shows in its own colors.
On a computer with Chrome
In Chrome, go to lockledger.app and sign in. Press the Install LockLedger button on the Settings card, or click the install icon at the right end of the address bar, or open Chrome's menu and choose Install LockLedger. It opens in its own window and gets an icon in your Start menu, on your Dock, or wherever your computer keeps apps.
- Microsoft Edge works the same way as Chrome, using the install icon in its address bar or its menu.
- Safari on a Mac: choose
File, thenAdd to Dock. - Firefox can't install web apps. Use Chrome, Edge or Safari for this.
On an Android phone
Open LockLedger in Chrome. If your phone allows it, the Install LockLedger button on the Settings card installs it, or you can open Chrome's menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
What to expect once it's installed
- It needs a connection. There is no offline mode. If you have no signal, the app can't load or save.
- There is nothing to update. It opens the current version of LockLedger each time, the same as the browser.
- The icon and the name are LockLedger's. Your company's logo and colors still appear inside the app, but not on the Home Screen icon.
- Links in emails, such as an invitation or a password reset, open in your browser, not in the installed app. Finish what the email asks in the browser, then open the installed app and sign in there.
- A report you export, such as the LOTO Log PDF or a CSV, opens in a viewer on an iPhone. Use the close button at the top left of the viewer to come back to LockLedger.
- The photo you can attach when you lock equipment works from the installed app the same way it does in the browser.
- It is not a different account. It is the same company, the same records and the same role, just opened from an icon.
Removing it
On an iPhone, touch and hold the icon and choose Remove App. On a computer, open the app, use its menu in the title bar and choose Uninstall, or remove it from your computer's list of installed apps. Removing it does not delete anything in LockLedger. Your company's records stay where they are, and you can reinstall at any time.
Notifications on the installed app
Installing does not turn notifications on by itself. Email works as it always has. To also get a notification on this device when a ticket is assigned to you, or when a Site Alert or announcement goes out, turn it on from Settings. On an iPhone this needs the installed app. See Get notifications on your phone or computer.
